Peter was raised between Los Angeles and Taipei before relocating to Paris in 2012. His early life contributes a west coast chill and an east asian island charm to his designs. He graduated with degrees from Applied Arts at Brown University and Womenswear Design at Central Saint Martin’s. He relocated to Paris in 2012 to work for Lanvin and Lemaire, and founded his namesake brand in 2018.

“I treat my collections as a form of storytelling. Each story is anchored by the memories and anecdotes behind clothing that I have owned since my youth. Family hand-me-downs, shared clothing with lovers, articles gifted, thrifted, accidentally destroyed, or rediscovered years later: these clothes symbolize a turning point, a maturity, a departure, an act of love or a heartbreak that I hold dear. While many of these memories and feelings–like the physical materials of the clothing themselves–fade over time, they linger in the back of my mind, until a chance encounter or an unexpected find prompts these memories and emotions to reappear. Encounters with these past moments become my inspiration. I retell these stories through the materials, textures, colors, and cuts of my designs, thus shaping the personal and intangible stories into a sartorial language that I can share with others.” Peter Wu
